The diagnostic methods of video-fluoroscopy and transnasal endoscopy of the act of swallowing complement each other to provide a comprehensive process of recording and evaluation of relevant parameters. During the radio-logical examination, the entire act of swallowing is presented in a coherent form depicting the oral, pharyngeal and oesophageal phases. Thus the cause and extent of aspiration (pre-deglutive, intra deglutive, post-deglutive) can be delimited.
